City of Pampa Declared Certified Gigabit City Powered by Vexus Fiber

LUBBOCK, Tx. -- 06/11/2024 -- (Vexus Fiber) -- Vexus Fiber has officially declared the City of Pampa a Certified Gigabit City Powered by Vexus. This marks a major milestone for Pampa along with Vexus now that the company’s ultra-high-speed, multi-gigabit fiber optic network is available to a majority of households and businesses throughout the city.

To date, Vexus has installed almost 120 miles of fiber optic internet throughout Pampa, bringing future-proof multi-gigabit speeds to residents and businesses through its privately funded $6.8 million investment in the community.

“Being a certified gigabit city signifies Pampa’s readiness to embrace the future. It means more than just infrastructure; it’s a symbol of our dedication to economic growth, education, and community. By achieving this certification, we’re ensuring that our city remains at the forefront of technological advancement, driving innovation and opportunity from education, work, and more,” said Dustin Miller, Assistant City Manager, City of Pampa

Vexus has served Pampa since the mid-2000s, as it began rapid expansion across the community in 2022. Since then, the company has expanded its service to almost 10,000 residents and more than 1,000 businesses.

Vexus Fiber, is part of Metronet, and together they operate fiber-to-the-home networks in more than 300 communities across 17 states and are actively expanding their fiber-optic network in 90 communities at any given time. Metronet, the country’s largest and fastest-growing privately owned fiber-to-the-home company, was named PCMag’s “Fastest Major ISP in 2023.”

“It’s a privilege to connect the people and businesses of Pampa,” said Brian Borthwick, Director of Operations at Vexus. “We are honored to declare them a Certified Gigabit City.”

Vexus launched multi-gig speeds up to 5 Gig / 5 Gig across their service area for residential customers earlier this year. They have a variety of symmetrical speeds* available starting at 150 / 150 Mbps to suit every household need. Businesses can receive connections customizable at limitless multi-gig speeds to meet their specific needs and TeleCloud-hosted communication solutions that bring together phone, chat and video conferencing services in one platform.

“It’s a groundbreaking time at Vexus,” noted Borthwick. “We are expanding the services available to our customers from multi-gig speeds to Premium WholeHome WiFi capabilities along with high-powered solutions for businesses. We’re also growing as a company by adding additional local employees in every market we serve. We’re committed to being community builders in every way from the future-proof fiber optic networks we build to ensuring local management and decision-making.”
